I spent years believing Christianity needed to be restored to the Church that was established by Christ. To do this, our faith tradition needed to hold to one of two beliefs.
Option 1. The apostles, the earliest Christians, and the Holy Spirit were complete failures in carrying out Christ's mission. The whole church fell apart immediately, (maybe even prior to the apostle John's death) only for "real" Christianity to finally be restored eighteen hundred years later.
Option 2. The true church was forced underground in secret, but there were always "real" Christians somewhere. This continued for eighteen hundred years until they were able to safety reemerge in America thanks to Stone & Campbell.
Both of these scenarios are illogical, ahistorical fantasies.
How can we SIMULTANEOUSLY confess that the bible is simple enough for anyone to understand --- yet claim that for eighteen hundred years nobody did!?
Our rallying call is that we want to be like the earliest Christians. So I encourage you to dig in, read the words of the Christians of the first and second centuries. Christians who came directly after the apostles, Christians who were taught by John personally and those whom they taught.

THESE ARE THE CHRISTIANS WHO WERE EATEN ALIVE BY LIONS FOR THEIR FAITH!
Eventually I became convinced that Christ's Church had never disappeared and therefore never needed to be restored.
The true Church lives today. It has always been there, as promised, as a shining city on a hill.
After far too many years of kicking against the goads, I have decided to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.
I believe that they are the ancient church, the ONE church established by Christ, and the church holding fast to the pattern of the apostles.
To put it simply: The evidence demands it.
This decision follows years of inner conflict, agony, and sleeplessness. Receiving Christ in His fullness is something that I can no longer delay. This void in my heart and soul must be filled.
Being prepared for my death and the transition from this life to the next was, is, and always will be at the forefront of my mind. Nothing else matters.
I ask that you to please join me in praying daily that all those who believe in Him can be united as one, just as He wills.
By the grace of God, I'm still alive and we're living in a time where the information is so readily available now. It's harder than ever to suppress the truth of the faith or to lie about what it actually is and what it teaches.
I believe that we'll be held accountable, not just for what we know, but also for what we had a reasonable opportunity to learn.
The bottom line is that I believe it is the one true Church that Christ founded 2000 years ago. I believe that it is the Church that serves as "the pillar and foundation of truth". It is the church, guided by the Holy Spirit at its councils that gave us the Bible. Anyone who believes that the new testament is sacred and canonical must do so based on the authority of the Catholic Church. There's no way around that fact.
I can't have Christ say to me, as I stand there trembling in fear on my judgment day: "I gave you my life, I gave you my Church, through my Church I gave you the new testament, through my Church I gave you baptism, through My Church I gave you myself in the Eucharist.
I gave you a visible, identifiable, worldwide Church guided by the Holy Spirit that has stood for two thousand years. But you thought that you could do your own thing instead? You thought that you knew better? You thought that you could be a part of a different church that was started by men in the 1800s?
Depart from Me, I never knew you."
